This will provide LiveWatch monitoring customers with an even faster and more effective means of managing their interactive home security systems. Verizon Wireless' broad and reliable network will increase accessibility for SafeMart's wireless customers. SafeMart already covers the entire US, but Verizon is known for coverage in certain areas that other providers don't service. LiveWatch monitoring customers will be able to monitor their homes from any location using this wireless network.

Verizon Communications Inc. recently activated new 4G LTE service in Acton, Massachusetts. This private investment further expands 4G LTE coverage in Acton. Within Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE service area, Verizon customers with 4G LTE-enabled devices can post status updates and photos, surf the Web, share music, and download files at speeds up to 10 times faster than customers on 3G networks. In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE customers in the coverage area should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

Verizon Communications Inc. announced that it continues to transform its global optical network, setting the stage for the development and delivery of even more powerful and innovative integrated solutions for key industries such as health care, retail and financial services. The company will build additional control plane technology into its network infrastructure -- technology that allows electronic devices on its optical network to more easily communicate with each other, simplifying operations and allowing for near real-time provisioning of specified new circuits. In addition, Verizon will extend 100G technology into its metro network worldwide to provide the same functionality as 100G long haul. These two key initiatives will allow Verizon to provide greater scalability and functionality while supporting higher access speeds. The control plane initiative enables end-to-end optical transport network functionality and global mesh architecture capabilities. Verizon's extension of 100G coherent technology will provide even broader access coverage for government and large-business customers. The company expects to implement this technology into major metro markets around the world during the first half of 2013.
