Nearly 700 additional households and small businesses in the area now have access to Verizon High Speed Internet, allowing them to quickly download movies or large files, share photos or video with friends and family, and create their own Internet content. Consumers and small businesses also can take advantage of some great bundle offers of Verizon voice, High Speed Internet (HSI) and DIRECTV services. Verizon High Speed Internet service is delivered on a dedicated line from Verizon's central switching office to the customer's home or business and is backed by round-the-clock customer service and technical support. Verizon's entry-level High Speed Internet service offers speeds of up to 1 Mbps (megabit per second) downstream and 384 Kbps (kilobits per second) upstream.* Consumers who want faster speed can order Verizon's offering of up to 3 Mbps downstream and 768 Kbps upstream. The up-to-3 Mbps service delivers download speeds 50 times faster than dial-up. Verizon offers consumers and small businesses an array of triple-play bundles - featuring voice and Internet services delivered over Verizon's 99.9% reliable network, and DIRECTV service. For new HSI customers, a 3 Mbps HSI triple-play bundle is only $99.99 per month or $94.99 per month when ordered online.
Verizon Communications Inc. and TV One announced that TV One has launched its video-on-demand offering on Verizon's FiOS TV service. FiOS TV subscribers can celebrate Black History Month with a variety of special VOD programming from TV One, which targets African-American viewers. The programming includes the history of black fashion and the role of the Ebony Fashion Fair; the true story of singer Roger Troutman and his band, Zapp; and the history of the civil rights movement, with performances from Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder Marvin Gaye and Bob Marley, among others. TV One features a broad mix of original and existing content, including original real-life entertainment series, dramas, sitcoms, music, movies and public affairs programming. FiOS TV customers will have access to a minimum of five hours each month of short- and long-form on-demand programming, with full episodes from popular series like "The Hughleys" and "Divorce Court" as well as vignettes and musical performances from top-name entertainers. TV One joins Verizon's industry-leading FiOS TV VOD service, which offers about 18,000 monthly titles, including 2,800 in high definition (HD). FiOS TV offers a broad collection of programming, with more than 560 all-digital channels including TV One (channel 271) and up to 138 HD channels. FiOS also provides next-generation interactive services including an advanced interactive media guide; social TV, news and entertainment widgets; remote DVR management; multi-room DVR; and more.
