The Government of Liberia announced August 27, that it has entered into an agreement with the Chevron Corp. to explore three deepwater concessions in Liberian waters. Under the agreement, the company will conduct a three-year exploratory program that is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2010. The agreement has been approved by the Executive Mansion and submitted to the Legislature for consideration and ratification.
Eni Chief Says In Talks To Sell Karachaganak Stake To Kazakhstan

Paolo Scaroni, Chief Executive Officer of Eni SpA said on August 25, 2010 that a group led by Eni and BG Group Plc are in talks to sell a stake in the Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. to Kazakhstan. The stake sale may be concluded in the next few weeks, Scaroni said in an interview in Rimini, Italy. The size of the stake and the conditions of the sale are not yet clear. KazMunaiGaz Exploration and Production JSC said on June 3 it was seeking to acquire 10% of the Karachaganak. BG and Eni are the largest shareholders in the Karachaganak venture, each holding a 32.5%, while Chevron Corp. has a 20% stake and OAO Lukoil holds 15%.
At Least Six Companies Likely To Be Interested In OGXs Assets

At least six companies have expressed interest in acquiring assets put up for sale by OGX Petrleo e Gs Participaes SA. Valor Economico newspaper reported. The report stated that China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., PetroChina Co. Ltd, Exxon Mobil Corp., Chevron Corp. and Statoil ASA are likely to bid for the assets. The report added that an Indian company is also interested. Valor Economico stated that a data room for the sale of the assets will stay open until September and Credit Suisse Group AG have been retained by OGX to manage the sale.
