On March 10, 2010 the Board of Directors of Costco Wholesale Corporation approved the promotion of John McKay to Executive Vice President from Senior Vice President. He will be Chief Operating Office in charge of the Northern Division. This position was previously occupied by Executive Vice President Doug Schutt, who has become Executive Vice President in Charge of Merchandising. Mr. McKay previously was Senior Vice President in charge of the Northwest Region and has worked at various positions with the company since 1983. He will report to Senior Executive Vice President Dick DiCerchio. Mr. Schutt will report to President and Chief Operating Officer W. Craig Jelinek.

Teamsters from the six local unions that represent 12,000 Costco Wholesale Corporations workers in California ratified a new three-year agreement that included annual wage increases and annual guaranteed bonuses. The wage and bonus increases will maintain the members' distinction as the highest paid retail workers in the country. The contract also included language improvements that will strengthen job security. The West Coast Costco contract was negotiated to expire in three years, concurrent with the East Coast Costco Teamster contract which is out for vote at this time and will be counted in the first week of March. The East Coast Costco contract covers 3,500 workers.

Costco Wholesale Corporation announced that the board of directors of the company elected W. Craig Jelinek as director to fill a newly-created vacancy on the board, effective February 17, 2010.
