MediaBeacon, Inc. announced a closely aligned relationship with Aysling Digital Media Solutions. Aysling brings the latest technology to clients through Adobe's Creative Suite and WoodWing's Enterprise content publishing system allowing both traditional and non-traditional publishers to plan, create and deliver content to their audience faster and through a broader set of channels. WoodWing's Digital Magazine Tools coupled with Adobe's InDesign technology enable publishers to easily create beautifully designed and compelling content for the web, mobile and Apple iPad in almost the same way they produce content for print. Because these tools present themselves simply as new panels in InDesign, the layout staff is easily able to use them without special training. The Digital Magazine Tools are an extension to WoodWing's Enterprise publishing system, which is already being used by numerous publishers around the world for their print publications. With this initiative, MediaBeacon's digital asset management platform is now integrated with the WoodWing Suite of products to better manage, search and re-purpose all types of rich media in the development of both print and rich output formats. The integration shows the strength of persistent metadata through the XMP standard allowing the creative workflow process without any connectors, plug-ins or additional coding. The partnership will also allow Aysling to sell, install and support the MediaBeacon's solution along with Woodwing and Adobe offering a seamless cross-media publishing solution for organizations.

Adobe Systems Inc. confirmed it is on track to deliver Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) for the Google Android mobile platform by the end of the year 2010. AIR enables Adobe Flash Web applications to run outside of a browser. AIR for Android is currently in a beta program. Motorola has announced support for AIR on Android.

Adobe Systems Inc. announced that it will patch a flaw in Reader revealed at the Black Hat security conference in an emergency update. The update will cover critical bugs affecting Adobe Reader and Acrobat, including one revealed by Charles Miller, at the conference in July 2010. The bug is due to an integer overflow, and can be used by attackers to compromise a system. The company is planning to release updates for Adobe Reader 9.3.3 for Windows, Macintosh and UNIX, Adobe Acrobat 9.3.3 for Windows and Macintosh, and Adobe Reader 8.2.3 and Acrobat 8.2.3 for Windows and Macintosh to resolve critical security issues and the Adobe Flash Player update as noted in Security Bulletin APSB10-16. Adobe expects to make these updates available on August 19, 2010. The company is currently scheduled to release the next quarterly security updates for Adobe Reader and Acrobat on Oct. 12, 2010.
