SIRIUS XM Radio Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2009. In the fourth quarter 2009, the company's pro forma average revenue per subscriber (ARPU) grew to $10.92 from $10.65 in the fourth quarter of 2008. Fourth quarter of 2009 pro forma revenue was $684 million, up 6% from fourth quarter 2008 pro forma revenue of $644 million. In the fourth quarter of 2009, the company achieved pro forma adjusted income from operations of $115 million as compared with $32 million in the fourth quarter of 2008. For the twelve months ended December 31, 2009, the company recognized total revenue of $2,527 million compared with $2,437 million for the twelve months ended December 31, 2008. This 4%, or $90 million, increase in revenue was primarily driven by the U.S. Music Royalty Fee introduced in the third quarter of 2009, the sale of 'Best of' programming, and rate increases to the company's multi-subscription and Internet packages. The company's pro forma adjusted income from operations increased $599 million to $463 million for the twelve months ended December 31, 2009 from a loss of $136 million for the twelve months ended December 31, 2008. This increase was driven by a 4%, or $90 million, increase in revenue and a 20%, or $509 million, decrease in expenses included in pro forma adjusted income (loss) from operations. On a proforma basis, the company reported income from operations of $147 million, loss before income taxes of $435 million and net loss of $441.3 million against loss from operations of $517 million, loss before income taxes of $898.3 million and net loss of $902.3 million for the same period a year ago. For the period, on a GAAP basis, the company reported income from operations of $228.3 million, loss before income taxes of $336.8 million and net loss attributable to common stockholders of $529 million or $0.15 per basic and diluted share on total revenue of $2,472.6 million against loss from operations of $5,036.7 million, loss before income taxes of $5,310.8 million and net loss attributable to common stockholders of $5,313.3 million or $2.45 per basic and diluted share on total revenue of $622.2 million for the same period a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities were $433.8 million against net cash used in operating activities of $152.8 million in 2008. Additions to property and equipment were $248.5 million against $130.6 million in 2008. Looking to 2010, the company expects full-year revenue of over $2.7 billion. Free cash flow is expected to remain positive in 2010. The company also expects adjusted income from operations to be up approximately 20% to $550 million in 2010.
