Las Vegas Sands Corp. announced that Mr. Wing Chao has been elected to the company's board of directors. Mr. Chao was most recently the executive vice president of Walt Disney Imagineering. Mr. Chao retired from Disney in 2009. While there, he oversaw master planning, architecture and development of Disney's land holdings in California, Florida, Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong. He also was vice chairman of development for Disney Parks and Resorts, Asia Pacific. In all, Mr. Chao played a key role in developing and implementing projects worth more than $8 billion.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2010. For the quarter, the companys net revenue was a record $1.59 billion, an increase of 50.6% compared to $1.06 billion in the second quarter of 2009. On a GAAP basis, operating income increased to $0.1668 billion, compared to a loss of $0.17 billion in the second quarter of 2009. The increase in operating income was principally due to stronger results across portfolio of properties in Macau and the opening of Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. Adjusted net income increased to $0.13 billion, or $0.17 per diluted share, compared to $8.8 million, or $0.01 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2009. On a GAAP basis, net loss attributable to common stockholders was $4.7 million, compared to $0.22 billion in the second quarter of 2009. Basic and diluted loss per share was less than $0.01 compared to $0.34 in the prior year quarter. The decrease in net loss attributable to common stockholders of $0.2175 billion reflects the increase in operating income, partially offset by increases in net income attributable to non-controlling interests, net interest expense and income tax expense principally associated with earnings from Marina Bay Sands. Capital expenditures was totaled $0.5891 billion, including construction and development activities of $0.4972 billion at Marina Bay Sands, $75.7 million in Macau, $10.9 million at Sands Bethlehem, and $5.3 million in Las Vegas. Income before income taxes was $0.86 billion against loss before income taxes of $0.232 billion. Adjusted EBITDA was $0.473 billion against $0.247 billion a year ago. For the six months, the companys total revenues were $2.9 billion against $2.13 billion a year ago. Operating income was $0.31 billion against operating loss of $0.135 billion a year ago. Income before income taxes was $0.15 billion against loss before income taxes of $0.27 billion a year ago. Net income was $0.126 billion against net loss of $0.214 billion a year ago. Net income attributable to the company was $0.59 billion against net loss attributable to the company of $0.21 billion a year ago. Net loss attributable to common stockholders was $0.34 billion against $0.30 billion a year ago. Basic and dilute per share was $0.05 against $0.46 a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was $0.844 billion against $0.508 billion a year ago. Adjusted net income was $0.182 billion or $0.24 per share against $0.017 billion or $0.03 per share a year ago.
