CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. Announces Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 2010

CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. announced consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 2010. The company reported consolidated net sales decreased 3% in the second quarter of 2010 to approximately USD 3.76 billion from USD 3.88 billion for the comparable period in 2009. Operating EBITDA decreased 13% in the second quarter of 2010 to USD 664 million from USD 762 million in the same period of 2009. Operating income decreased 23% to USD 295 million compared to USD 383 million for the same period last year. The company reported free cash flow, after maintenance capital expenditures, for the quarter was USD 187 million, down 59% from USD 456 million in the same quarter of 2009. Net income from continuing operations was a loss of USD 301 million in the second quarter of 2010 versus income of USD 173 million in the second quarter of 2009 due to lower operating income, higher financial expenses a higher loss on financial instruments and a foreign exchange loss, which was partially mitigated by a gain in financial income. For the six months, the company reported net sales of USD 6,804 million, operating income of USD 443 million, operating EBITDA of USD 1,179 million, free cash flow after maintenance capital expenditure of USD 16 million compared to net sales of USD 7,243 million, operating income of USD 678 million, operating EBITDA of USD 1,425 million, free cash flow after maintenance capital expenditure of USD 560 million for the same period last year. The company reported net debt plus perpetual notes of USD 17,129 million compared to USD 21,201 million for the same period last year.
