The family of four people killed in the crash of a Marine Corps jet in a San Diego County neighborhood two years ago are suing the federal government and Boeing Co. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court by Dong Yun Yoon, whose wife, two daughters and mother-in-law were killed in the December 2008 crash. The suit accuses the military and Boeing of negligence and seeks unspecified damages. The military says a series of bad decisions allowed the F-18 to go down in University City after an engine failure. The crash killed four people, destroyed two homes and damaged others.

Boeing Co. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and first half ended June 30, 2010. For the quarter, the company reported net income of $787 million, or $1.06 per diluted share, on revenue of $15,573 million against net income of $998 million, or $1.41 per diluted share, on revenue of $17,154 million a year ago. Earnings from operations were $1,307 million compared to $1,529 million a year ago. Earnings before income taxes were $1,210 million compared to $1,496 million a year ago. Net earnings from continuing operations were $789 million compared to $997 million a year ago. Negative free cash flow was $462 million compared to free cash flow of $458 million a year ago. For first half ended June 30, 2010, the company reported net income of $1,306 million, or $1.76 per diluted share, on revenue of $30,789 million against net income of $1,608 million, or $2.27 per diluted share, on revenue of $33,656 million a year ago. Earnings from operations were $2,481 million compared to $2,554 million a year ago. Earnings before income taxes were $2,260 million compared to $2,428 million a year ago.
