Key developments for ADOBE SYSTEMS INC (ADBE)
ViewCast.com Inc. (ViewCast Corporation) announced that venerable book and digital content publisher HarperCollins has selected advanced streaming media solutions from ViewCast and Adobe Systems Inc. to power the company's live streaming and video on demand (VOD) media programming. With ViewCast Niagara streaming media encoders and Adobe Flash Media Server software at the heart of HarperCollins' new digital conference center, the company is equipped with a feature-rich, easy to use streaming media platform for real-time and pre-recorded corporate communication and events. Constructed at HarperCollins' corporate headquarters in New York, the company's new digital conference center was designed to facilitate live and on-demand broadcasting of executive addresses, guest speaker presentations, company meetings and corporate training programs to company employees. To ensure optimal streaming performance, reliability and manageability, HarperCollins implemented ViewCast Niagara streaming media encoders -- including the Niagara 2120 and a Niagara GoStream SURF - networked to two servers running Adobe Flash Media Server software.
Adobe Systems Inc. announced executive appointments that will align and strengthen the company's focus on major customer segments and enable these customers to create, deliver and optimize digital experiences across a wide range of media and devices. David Wadhwani, who has served as vice president and general manager of Adobe's Platform Business Unit since 2008, has been promoted to senior vice president and general manager of the newly formed Creative and Interactive Solutions business unit (CISBU), reporting to Shantanu Narayen, Adobe president and CEO. The CISBU will include the Creative Suites(R), the Flash(R) Platform, digital publishing and rich media solutions. Senior Vice President John Loiacono, who has led Adobe's Creative Solutions BU (CSBU) since 2006, has been appointed to lead the newly-created Digital Media Solutions BU (DMSBU), also reporting to Narayen. The focus of the DMSBU will be on strengthening innovation and expanding market opportunities for Adobe's core digital imaging franchise, which includes tools for both digital imaging and video professionals. Brad Rencher, who previously served as vice president of business operations for the Omniture BU (OBU), has been promoted to vice president and general manager, also reporting to Narayen. Rencher succeeds Josh James, founder and former CEO of Omniture, who will leave his post as senior vice president of the OBU at the end of July 2010. Under Rencher's leadership, the OBU will expand to include Adobe's Scene7(R) rich media solutions, which, combined with Omniture's tracking and analytics solutions, will empower online marketers, advertisers and retailers to deliver more impactful user experiences and business results.
Adobe Systems Inc. added software tools to help online marketers make the most of ads bought from Facebook and Google. The launch of the software suite follows Adobe's $1.8 billion buyout of Internet analytics company Omniture last year. Omniture's products now will carry the Adobe brand.
